Who is Just Write for?
Just Write is for authors of longform Chinese web fiction. Its workspace organizes manuscripts by book and chapter and supports continuation, selection rewrite and candidate review. The author sets the story direction and decides which generated prose becomes manuscript text.
What is the difference between continuation and rewrite?
Continuation drafts what comes next at the cursor, using the current chapter before that point and earlier accepted chapters. Rewrite starts from an exact selection and uses surrounding text to draft a replacement. Successful acceptance replaces only that selection and leaves text outside it unchanged. Rewrite has no Plan step.
Can I start without existing prose?
Yes. If there is no accepted prose before the writing point, enter your own instructions before starting Continue or Plan. Instructions are optional when preceding prose exists. Style references and existing notes do not replace opening instructions.
Does AI change my manuscript automatically?
Generation, previews, stopping, rejection and recovery do not automatically change manuscript text. A change requires the author to explicitly accept a complete candidate and the server to validate the chapter and candidate identities.
An intermediate scene choice directs subsequent drafting. “Choose and add to manuscript” for a final version and “Choose and replace original” for a rewrite are acceptance actions. Browsing candidates is not acceptance.
Does continuation use later chapters?
Prior story context for continuation comes only from the current chapter before the writing point and earlier accepted chapters. Text after the writing point and later chapters are not used as preceding prose. A new task retains the inputs established when it starts; resuming does not reload instructions or references that changed later.
What happens if I refresh or lose the connection?
A disconnected browser does not itself cancel background writing. Reopen the workspace and check the existing task’s progress or recovery options. Resuming uses the original task inputs; start a new task to use new instructions. Refreshing and recovering do not accept a candidate for you.
Do style references become facts about my new story?
No. In version 1.48, style references inform phrasing, pacing and dialogue. Characters, settings and events in earlier work are not facts about the new book. The current manuscript, selected original and writing instructions take priority; the author still reviews the output.
Add and enable excerpts separately for each book. With no author excerpts, a task uses a built-in reference. Once author excerpts exist, only enabled author excerpts are selected; disabling all of them means no reference is used. Outline, character and worldbuilding pages are currently hidden.
Can I write offline on Web, macOS or Windows?
The current macOS and Windows clients use the online Web workspace and cloud manuscripts. They require an internet connection and do not provide an offline author database. Sign in to the same account in a browser or desktop client to access your cloud books.
On macOS, an author can also select local Codex as the writing source. Tasks and candidates still use the cloud workspace, so this does not provide offline writing. The browser and Windows client do not offer a local Codex source.
Does the English interface translate my novel?
No. Just Write has Chinese and English interface languages. Switching languages changes menus, controls and messages, not manuscripts, book or chapter names, references or generated story content. English public pages explain the product; they do not guarantee English-fiction generation quality. The main writing use case remains longform Chinese web fiction.
Where can I check prices and writing allowances?
The pricing page shows current plans, allowances and usage explanations, with figures supplied by the service. Platform writing consumes writing points according to actual model usage. Prior text, planning, generated prose and reference material affect usage, so points do not represent a fixed number of characters. Free and Premium plans share product features and primarily differ in included allowance; free use is not unlimited.
