Continue from the existing story
Just Write is a writing workspace for authors of longform Chinese web fiction. Organize books and chapters, place the cursor in your manuscript, and use Continue to draft what happens next. Generated prose is a candidate until you accept it.
Continuation uses the current chapter before the writing point and earlier accepted chapters. Text after that point and later chapters are not used as prior story context.
Give this passage a direction
Choose Continue near the manuscript cursor and enter instructions in the multiline popover. Describe who should act, which conflict should develop, or which information should remain hidden. You can also specify a direction for dialogue or pacing.
Instructions are optional when accepted prose precedes the writing point. If there is no preceding accepted prose, enter instructions for the opening first. Style references and existing notes do not replace opening instructions.
Use Plan if you want to confirm a direction before drafting. After confirmation, the task continues into prose generation.
Read the draft before accepting
With writing version 1.48, click the draft-count button to cycle through one, two or three candidates; version 1.36 generates one. When an intermediate scene needs a choice, the chosen text becomes context for the following scene.
Read the completed content for character motivation, cause and effect, continuity and your instructions. The final-scene action “Choose and add to manuscript” authorizes acceptance; a completed candidate can also offer “Accept candidate”. Only successful acceptance changes the manuscript.
Use earlier work as a style reference
The Style page lets you add excerpts from your earlier work for each book. In version 1.48, enabled excerpts inform prose rhythm, dialogue and writing style. With no author excerpts, the task uses a built-in reference; with existing excerpts all disabled, it uses no reference.
Reference characters and events are not facts about the new book. The current manuscript and your instructions take priority. Outline, character and worldbuilding pages are currently hidden, and you do not need to create them before continuing a novel.
